If the current crop of teenage idols like My Chemical Romance, HIM, or even Green Day, took a band like Crashdiet with them that would be cool.
I 'd say a major label getting it's head out of it's ass and signing a Glam/Sleaze band, plus a major act taking a Glam /Sleaze band on tour instead of some loser new alternative band!!!

Why not put together a package tour with that sort of appeal? Perhaps put out a compilation CD.
Personally, I don't think that the media would ever allow anything not hip-hop to even try to become superstars. Hip-hop takes no talent or even attempts at same, just the ability to grunt about raping and shooting over a sample whilst dressing on the DL.
You have to question how big HIM were before their association with Bam Margera / Jackass etc
Its all about tie-ins and associations.
And doing it slightly differently than before.
By my reckoning, we have 3 more years before Glam gets big again. Lets just hope we dont fuck it all up again!
For "glam" to "get big again," it's going to have to be something other than regurgitated late 1980s,which seems to be the idea on these boards.
"Glam" is too associated with retro/jokes such as Darkness, even though they resemble an early 1970s HM band more than anything else.
I'd say trying to appeal to the very big and growing Spanish language market would be an interesting move. The Spanish language TV networks still have extravegant variety shows, which would be perfect for glam in whatever its form.
Big bucks and big media is what's needed.
Guess it could be triggered my anything, but until the big lables put big money in glam bands and media hype them it's gonna be underground for the people who already know how exciting it is.
The kids today read what's published and listen to the radio and watch TV.... same as always, really, and that's still where the massess will pick up new trends.
But I mean even bands like HIM wouldn't stand a chance 10 years ago, so you can say it's moving in the right direction... even if it's SLOW LOL
One band with one hit is all it takes. Then the likes of EMI will think,...."....Hmm, that's nice..." and begin to manufacture hundreds of little Glam bands,.. each with their very own Sharon Osborne at the wheel,......
Hang on,.. didn't that already happen,...
Swings and roundabouts. Anyway who cares if you like it buy it not every band needs to be as big as U2 then again can anyone even name a band that looks like they've got what it takes to be a G'n'R(they only had one half decent album in them but did it anyway).

Personally speaking, I like things to stay underground. I like the Stones & some mainstream stuff but part of the attraction is having it underground, surely. I wouldn't want a corporate angle on a cool little thing. That's the difference between Hanoi's Self Oriental Beat & Micheal Monroe's Not Fakin' It. Perhaps I'm on my own here?
